COVID-19 Coronavirus

This medical practise is an 'essential service' and remains open during the lockdown which has been introduced by NSW Health to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. At present, both elective and emergency surgeries are proceeding at private hospitals.

We take your safety very seriously and have instituted social distancing and additional infection control measures at our practice.
However, you should not come to our surgery if you have:
1. Symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath
2. Returned from overseas within the last 14 days.
3. Been in contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.

Please limit accompanying family or friends to one other person, and then only if required as a carer, driver or interpreter.
Please do not bring children / dependents to the surgery (unless they are the ones requiring treatment).
If in any doubt, please do not hesitate to discuss the situation further with our administrative staff

Southern Hand Surgery is a specialty medical practice focusing entirely on the care of hand injuries and hand conditions which require surgical treatment. We strive for excellence of care in all phases of treatment - preoperative assessment, operative technique, and postoperative rehabilitation. Our team prefers a low key, private, and personal approach. Our doctors are full-time Hand Surgeons, Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and have also undergone post-Fellowship training in Hand Surgery. We operate in hospitals which have specialist Hand Surgery equipment and expertise. Our regular anaesthetic and nursing teams help maintain an expert, efficient, but friendly and non-threatening atmosphere.

We work very closely with Hand Therapists in the local area and beyond. Post operative rehabilitation is critical for optimal recovery from hand surgery, and some hand conditions are best treated principally with splinting and/or hand exercises. Dynamic Hand Therapy staff treat patients on location in our Kogarah rooms on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our administration staff are very experienced in medical practice management, particularly relating to hand surgery and work-related hand injury. They will help make the potentially confusing process of Hospital bookings and insurance claims more manageable for you.
